Gated community. I had the privilege the other day of shooting - TopicsExpress

Gated community. I had the privilege the other day of shooting photos at an exclusive neighborhood called Vaquero. It is filled with luxury homes beyond compare. No corners are cut. Landscaping budgets that cost twice what my entire home would go for. As we pull up to the gate we discover that our names were not on the list. The security guard flipped through pages and pages but could find us do he could not let us enter. Finally he said try the contractor entrance. We drove around and fortunately when we got there, they had a little note regarding us, so he let us pass. I noticed the gate as we drove in. It looked like a solid wooden pole but my artistic eye noticed something just didnt look right about it. It was a fake. A metal pole wrapped with a sticker to make it appear like pine. It got me looking around more. After all, I was there to take pictures. I noticed more. Broken sprinkler heads. Dead trees. Muddy bogs. I mean, this place is as good as it gets, right? Well Im so glad some day Ill roll up to a gated community where the gate isnt fake. My name will be on the list. There will be no broken sprinkler heads because there will be no sprinkler heads. No dead trees either. So much effort to try to create our own heaven on earth. Our Eden. I do the same thing so Im not judging. I build houses, plant trees and wish everything wasnt out of square or half dead. But we should focus on the next gated community more and the ones of this world less. The best we can do just wont measure up anyway. Now Ive got to go lay some tile... :)
