Gathering of Men: The Power of Improvisation What: The Men’s Council (TMC) monthly event for July: The Power of Improvisation with Wayne Upchurch When: Tuesday, July 22, 2014, 7:00-9:00pm Where: UCT church office building... 1318 Dale Street in Raleigh. Big room on ground floor In Bill Moyers’ introduction to The Power of Myth, he tells a story about a story: Joseph Campbell had overheard a westerner commenting on a Japanese Shinto priest that he didn’t “get” their ideology – their theology. The priest thoughtfully answered “I think we don’t have ideology. We don’t have theology. We dance.” How would you like to be free to respond to others – to circumstances – as you would in a spontaneous dance, without learning formal dance? What would life be like if, instead of disengaging, you fully engaged others, with grace and timing? What would it mean if you could more easily improvise in the clinch? In our meeting, Wayne Upchurch will lead us in a brief introduction, with a few very easy exercises all can participate in. You will hear, and play with, the Key ingredient in the power of improvisation. Join us with the willingness to play in a connected way. This event is sponsored by the Men’s Council, hosted by the Men’s Group of the Unity Church of the Triangle and supported by MKP men in Raleigh. The purpose of these monthly meetings is to provide a venue for men to gather and celebrate camaraderie and connection with each other. We hope you will join us for this gathering of men!
