Gave GRE today. 330 (V: 160, Q: 170) A few pointers for the prep: 1. Around 1-2 months of prep is enough.(Depends on the verbal) 2. Continuously giving mocks doesnt help. 3. You have 6 free useful mocks. - Manhatten prep. 1 mocks. Give this before starting the preparations. It will help you evaulate yourself and make a study plan. - ETS official tests. 2 mocks. Give first one a month before the exam and one a week before it. These are a good estimation for final scores. - Kaplan Test 3 mock. Set milestones in your study plan and set these tests according to that. These are generally very hard. So dont be disheartened by them. These also have experimental sections, so you will get a practice of sitting throughout the tests. 4. Do not be disheartened by mocks. They are mocks. The highest i got in a mock was 321. That to ETS one. 5. Rather than trying to improve everything, focus on playing to your strengths. I tried improving verbal by trying to remember words. But soon realized that focusing on quant was much simpler and achievable. Because lets face it, even if you managed to remember 2000 words, there is a chance a word that you never heard of might pop up. 6. Focus on verbal. But dont forget quant. 7. Memrise, flashcards, mobile flashcards etc. will help you out more than sitting and trying to remember word lists. 8. Most important of all : stop giving any type of mocks one week before the test. It will only demoralize you. In the last week, try to analyze your weak areas and just practice sums on random. But dont grill yourself. Revise, dont learn new things. On the day of the exam: 1. Sleep well the night before. Dont try any last minute preparations. A good nights sleep will earn you more marks than a few last minute words. 2. Dont take much with you as you will anyways have to put everything apart from your passport in the locker. Dress comfortably. 3. Remember, your first substantial break would be after two hours (2 AWAs, 1 quant and 1 verbal). So have some energy giving stuff for breakfast and drink some water before you enter the test area. 4. Keep an energy bar like snickers to have in the 10 min break. It makes a huge difference. 5. The one minute breaks are there for a reason. Take them. 6. Dont panic. Take one section at a time. You will do good. If the previous section sucked, dont worry. There is nothing you can do about it. Focus on what you have at hand. These were a few things that helped me out. Best of luck to people who have not given it yet. PS : Dont buy books blindly. You wont open them mostly. Cheers!!!
