Gave a lot of thought to how best to make the sun in splendour . Decided to carve it in reverse in a slab of plaster (the back of an old mould - nothing is wasted!). You can make a good hemispherical shape in plaster by twisting a coin around - a penny is perfect for the size I needed. Then I carved the rays with a file and pressed in Plasticine to make the sun. Sun and stars applied, I gave the whole pattern a coat of foundry paint.
