Gavin Grindon, art historian and co-curator of Disobedient Objects exhibition at Victoria and Albert Museum: “What has stood out in the Hong Kong protests is the speed and diversity of the creative approaches to the culture of protest. He cited bamboo barricades and use of water bottles to protect protesters’ arms from police batons as examples. Grindon said documenting the creativity of the Hong Kong protests was important. “What is evident in Hong Kong is how people are more than ever collectively taking art and design into their own hands to control the means of their representation,” he said.
