Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering goes the green way Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering has installed a grid on grid interactive solar power plant and has taken the lead in using renewable energy to power its campus. The college has set up a 100Kw plant in collaboration with M/s EMMVEE Photovoltaic Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore on a Build Own Operate and Transfer basis. The company will operate the plant for 15 years and then transfer it to the college. The system does not have a battery bank and is therefore more cost effective and requires less space. The excess power generated will be sent to the grid. The power generated will be cheaper that grid power. The management plans to venture further into the field of renewable energy by setting up a wind-solar hybrid plant as well as a commercial biogas plant. Source: The Hindu
