Gaza Community Mental Health Programme participated in a training session entitled Medias Ethical Considerations when Dealing with War Victims October 22, 2014, GCMHP, Gaza- GCMHP participated in a training session entitled Medias Ethical Considerations when Dealing with War Victims, which was implemented by the Media House in Gaza. A group of professional journalists and journalism students attended this training session. The Psychologist Mr. Hassan Zeyada, Manager of Gaza Community Center discussed how media deals with different crisis, especially how they dealt with the last war on the Gaza strip. He also thanked the media for their hard work and efforts to spread the Palestinian message and suffering to the world. Through his speech, Mr. Zeyada stressed on the importance of making a balance between media coverage and preserving the war survivors feelings. This may protect the survivors feelings and will not contribute to provocation of traumatic experiences they suffered from Mr. Zeyada said. He also emphasized the need to give war survivors an adequate space to talk about their sad experiences they went through. Mr. Zeyada criticized the medias abuse of the Palestinian dignity, especially during the distribution of relief aid process. Filming and publishing pictures for those people receiving aid without respecting their privacy will hurt their feelings in the short and long run, he added.
