********Gazette Report******** Two rinks of Berkhamsted Men travelled to Mill End BC to play in the Men’s League on Tuesday evening. Needing to secure an emphatic win to give them any chance of progressing further, Paul Mackness, Alan Jones, Wally Dunn, David Brown, Eric Browitt, Brian Smith, Dave Sear and Kevin Clarke set about demolishing a confident Mill End team. At the end of the evening the score of 76 – 23 in Berkhamsted’s favour bode well but we have since heard that it was not enough to progress us into the semi-finals. The euphoria of Tuesday’s game rolled over into Wednesday’s friendly against Garston where Brian Ralphs, Jak Chowdhary, Anne Cutting and David Brown led Berkhamsted to a 84 – 73 victory. Men’s Captain David Brown welcomed two of the clubs under nineteen members (Jak Chowdhary and David Scoot) into their first senior game and praised their contribution. Unfortunately the winning streak couldn’t be carried on in the next friendly against Harpenden, outplayed on all but one rink Bekhamsted lost 58 – 113.
