Gazzetta dello Sport claim on Thursday that AS Roma boss Walter - TopicsExpress

Gazzetta dello Sport claim on Thursday that AS Roma boss Walter Sabatini will hold transfer talks with Louis van Gaal in the coming hours. The player in question is once again Mehdi Benatia as his situation takes yet a another twist. He was going, then hed decided to stay, then Roma offered too little in salary, then they offered more and a renewal was virtually done and now its all off again. There were claims Benatia had been offered a contract worth €3m per year after tax to remain at the Serie A club, there was also going to be a buyout clause in any new contract of around €35m. Gazzetta dello Sport say thats not the case and Roma actually offered Benatia €2m after tax plus a further bonus of €500,000. This wasnt to the Moroccan internationals liking and now he wants to leave again, with his preferred destination being Bayern Munich. Gazzetta say Roma want €40m (a figure which keeps going up) and Bayern Munich are prepared to offer €30m. Il Tempo disagree, they say the Bayern offer was more like €18m and that Romas asking price is still €35m Thats led to Sabatini trying to reopen some kind of talks with Manchester United for Benatia. Il Messaggero said on Sunday that Moussa Sissoko, Benatias agent, denied the Sky Sports claim of the player travelling to Manchester but they also claimed Walter Sabatini held a rendezvous with some intermediaries of the Red Devils on Saturday to talk about Benatia. This is a continually changing story with contradicting claims all over the place. That could be because nobody really knows whats going on or that Roma have got themselves into something of a frenzy. [Source: Sport Witness, Gazzetta dello Sport, Il Messaggero, Il Tempo]
