Gearbox Codes:Pre 1937. 22 = Green Spot SR = Red Spot Post 1937 2243 - Green Spot with 4.3 mph top gear, SR43 = Red Spot with 4.3mph top gear, 2275 = Green Spot with 7.75mph top gear, SR75 = Red Spot with 7.75mph top gear. Green Spot was the standard gearbox with 2mph first and 3mph second, whilst Red Spot was the Special Ploughing gear with 1.5mph first and 2.5mph second. Some 7.75 top gear tractors also had the rear axle ratio indicated 17:1 for agricultural or 11:1 for Industrial. Some Agricultural tractors in wartime had the 11:1 rear axle with 7.75mph top gear for use by the Land Army to deliver fuel or steel wheeled tractors. E27Ns used the same codes. Green Spot tractors had a green spot painted on the back of the transmission housing, Red Spot tractors a Red Spot! E27Ns also originally had a plate on the inside top lh dash with the serial number and gearbox type, and later the words STD were used instead of 22.
