Geelani concerned over ‘disappearance’ of Kashmiri youth in Mumbai => Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has expressed his deep concern over the disappearance and murderous attack on young Kashmiri Parvez Ahmed Telli in Mumbai. “Kashmiris do not feel safe in any corner of India and police, intelligence agencies and communal forces are terrorizing Kashmiri people,” he said in a statement. Quoting Chief Minister Omer Abdullah’s claims about the safety of Kashmir outside state, Geelani said, “The claims proved to be a hoax as Kashmiris are still being terrified and harassed at the hands of different agencies.” While emphasizing over immediate release of Teli, he said that local police have failed to provide any clue and the family members of the missing youth were told that they are not in position to provide any assistance or help. “Though Telli has been missing for several days, yet his family is not being provided any kind of information about his whereabouts. Telli has a beard over his face and follows the norms and Islamic rituals. It is apprehended that the intelligence agencies on suspicion might have taken him into custody and are interrogating him,” he said and added that whosoever with a beard on his face is treated as terrorist and apprehended and subjected to questioning. “Fortunately or unfortunately, if the victim turns to be a Kashmiri then it is considered dangerous and there is no guarantee for victim’s safety. Till today hundreds of Kashmir’s were arrested by police and intelligence agencies and either disappeared or put behind bars for years,” Geelani said and added that there are many examples when a person after serving jail term for 14 years or more were acquitted from all charges and court declared them innocents. He assured that Teli belongs to every Kashmiri family and “we treat him our son and God forbid if they did any harm to him, we will stand with his family,” he added. (KNS)
