Geet Sandhya held at K L Saigal Hall Budding artists mesmerize music lovers JAMMU, December 30-The Dogri Sanstha today organized ‘Geet Sandhya’, a musical evening comprising melodious songs written by renowned dogri poetess, Padma Sachdev, as a part of Dogri Maanta Divas and New Year celebrations here at KL Saigal Hall. About two dozen budding singers enthralled the audience with their mind blowing poetic compositions, the music of which was given by noted music Director Brij Mohan. The programme began with a bhaint ‘jammu shehar khand mitthe pataase’ by Varsha Jamwal followed by Mehvish who presented famous song of the poetess ‘bhadro ne rohay kanne bhanniyan duariyaan’. Besides, the melodious performance of Vivek Mohan, Sonali Dogra, Sushmita and Indu Bala were also highly appreciated. Renowned senior artist Dharmesh Nargotra, who presented masterpiece of Padma Sachdev ‘sanjh roungli te ghatt aye duaas mati aye’, fascinated the music lovers. The Geet Sandhya culminated with a beguiling group song ‘us dogre aan aakhane aan shaanaa kanne…’ which has attained the status of an anthem for Dogras owing to its inspiring words and composition. Pallavi, Priya, Meeakshi, Priyanka, Antu Bannerji, Nirmal Koul, Sunil Azad, Raunak, Shiv, Shubham and Purshottam participated in the group songs. The magic of today’s Geet Sandhya composed by Brij Mohan was quite evident from the repeated applause from the audience. The singers were accompanied on Guitar by Sanjay Pashi, Dholak by Darbari Lal, synth by Banty Kumar and Pad by Rohit. Earlier, President Dogri Sanstha, Chhatrapal, said that Dogri language is the identity of Dogras and it is the moral duty of every Dogra to promote it and its culture. Vice President of Dogri Sanstha Gianeshwar presented vote of thanks while Vijay Atri compered the programme.
