Gen Hooda hoists National Flag in Udhampur =>Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen DS Hooda hoisted the National Flag within Udhampur Cantonment in Jammu region, a senior defence official in a statement issued to GNS said on Tuesday. He said that the flag hoisted by Lt Gen DS Hooda, GOC-in-C Northern Command measuring 30 ft x 20 ft on a 100 ft mast, atop a prominent hill feature within Udhampur Cantonment. “The National Flag, “Tiranga” is a powerful symbol of our struggle for independence and National unity. It has also been a source of inspiration for countless Indians”, the official said, adding that the flag fluttering at a vantage point is visible from a distance not only to garrison troops but also to the civilian population and the tourists passing through the station as Udhampur is the gateway to the Kashmir valley. The view of national flag from a distance is bound to instill a sense of pride and confidence amongst all. The flag stands illuminated at night befitting the glory and prestige associated with the symbol, the official added. (GNS)
