Genealogy. Im curious as to how many here do Genealogy? I have four of my families back to the late 1700s, and one to the late 1800s. There is an amazing Genealogy resource at FindAGrave . I have used it to create mini-Family Trees, based on were ancestors are laid to rest. You can use FindAGrave to find your ancestors, in Cemeteries, and create Virtual Cemeteries. My Family Tree exists in and around Jerusalem (Judson, MN), in Mankato, in two Welsh communities in Wisconsin. I have also built a Virtual Cemetery for my MHS Class of 68 departed classmates. Another way anyone can get involved with the FindAGrave volunteer community, is to help with gravestone photo requests. Once you have found a Cemetery, you can use the Photo Requests link, to find gravestone photo requests! Take a simple photo of the gravestone, and upload it! You dont need to have a fancy digital or SLR camera - but if you do, youre even luckier to have those skills. Theres lots of people at a distance who would like to have gravestone photos compliment their genealogies. Dates in stone seem to outlast dates on paper, plus gravestones can be great works of art. This is a tremendous Genealogy resource, that I use in conjunction with familysearch.org/ for Census and other BMD public records searches. (Birth, Marriage, Death dates.)
