Genealogy for the family who requested it: Ive been trying to do granddads (Charles) genealogy for about a year now because no one seems to know much of anything about it. Here are some pictures that Ive come across as well as Census PDFs that are neat to look at. The Pictures: -As labeled the first 3 images are Census from the 1800s and sometimes they are hard to decipher but after awhile you get to understanding the layout. Youre looking for a James Morrow; this is my grandpas great-great grandfather. P1:The couple is Charless grandparents. Thomas Jefferson Whitaker and his wife Georgia Ann Morrow P2: This is Georgia Ann in her later years P3: This is John Morrow (who I think looks like my uncle Chuck) the son of James and our decedent. P4: John Morrows wife Sarah Morrow (Baker) P5: This is a picture of a clock that was brought to America from Ireland by James Morrow who is the grandfather of Georgia Ann Morrow. This clock is in Alabama with one of our distance relatives from another sibling of John Morrow. P6: Grave stone of John and Sarah Morrow in Alabama P7: Tombstone of Francis Morrow, only brother of John, who died in the Civil War. James Morrow is as far back as Ive been able to go so far with our genealogy and all we know about him is that He was born in Ireland, his parents were born in Ireland and before relocating to Mississippi and Alabama he had all but one of his children in South Carolina where his wife was born and this is the dead end Im at now. We do not know his wifes name or what happened to her but I believe she is probably buried in Mississippi. I recently took a trip to Charleston, SC to farther my research, thinking maybe James came through that port or the family settled new there but I ended up coming up with nothing. Im not sure if this is cultural or a distinctly Irish Catholic tradition but all of the children seem to have very Catholic names so I tried looking at the local records of the parishes that were present at the time but as luck would have it a great fire destroyed everything in Charleston. So thats all Ive got now but Im still working on it and will be gradually; all are welcome to join it too! I still have a couple of places to look but after that Im not sure where to turn. My most recent idea is to find the death certificate of Francis Morrow (thinking because he died in the war it might be more official) so that I can hopefully find out the name of his mother and then try to find marriage certificates and any other documents that I can. Bellow are my notes: I have 1850, 1870, and 1880 Census’ James D. Morrow born 1798 (99) in Ireland but not sure how old or with who if anyone did he come to America. -Father and Mother both born in Ireland -Married and had Children in South Carolina -The family settled in Gattman Mississippi -Widowed and wife born in South Carolina probably died in Mississippi because youngest child Mary was born there but all the others were born in South Carolina -Wife had to have died between 1835-1850 in Mississippi but moved there between 1834-35 James Morrow’s Children: -Sarah (Born: 1830ap) -John L. (Born: June 25, 1831) -Margret (Born: 1832ap.) -Francis (Born: 1834; Died: January 28, 1862; Civil War) -Martha Jane (Born: 1834ap.) -Mary E.
