General George S. Patton, Jr. passed away on this date 21 December 1945. Old blood and Guts was born on what would later become Armistice Day and then Veterans Day, 11 November 1885. He graduated from VMI and then West Point. An expert pistol shooter and horseman, he participated in the Modern Pentathlon in the 1912 Olympics.
