General prayer Almighty and merciful God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for all your goodness and mercy, especially for the gift of Your Son and that you reveal your will and grace. We pray that you would plant Your Word in our hearts that we keep it and bring forth fruit in doing that which is pleasing to You. We pray that you would so rule and govern Your Church, that we may be kept in the pure teaching of your Word, that our faith in you may be strengthened, that we may be charitable in our dealings with others, and your kingdom might be extended and your Word of reconciliation may be proclaimed to all people and the Gospel preached in all the world. Grant your blessing to all in authority, especially to the President and Congress of the United States, the Governor and legislature of our State, and all local and county officials. Give them grace to rule according to Your will, to the prevention and punishment of wrongdoing and crime, that we may live a godly and honest life in peace. We pray that it would please you to turn the hearts of our enemies, those who commit acts of violence, that they would turn from their ways and be inclined to live in peace in this world. We pray for all who are in any trouble, sickness, need, danger of death or any other adverse condition, especially for those who suffer for Your name and truth. Comfort and strengthen them in their afflictions with your Holy Spirit, our God, that they live in your peace. Guide our nation at this time of a National election. Give us wisdom, discernment, in voting for those who are to lead, in our county, state, and nation. Use them to accomplish Your purposes, Gracious Lord.
