General questions for the guitar players concerning AB - TopicsExpress

General questions for the guitar players concerning AB Boxes: Im working on the artwork for a 2nd version of an A/B box... Where channel A is always on and the switch controls turning on and off channel B. Now, in my world this is how Ive always used ABYs. I never actually use the A or B portion, only the A and B side. Is this use common within the group? I also typically play with older amps with polarity switches. In the event of a ground buzz when feeding both amps at the same time, buzzes can be simply eliminated by switching the polarity at one amp. I can add transformer isolation or ground lifting at the pedal but the costs would of course increase. Is this a necessary feature for the group? Again, for my particular use its not. Another goofy question... I have never used an AB in reverse, switching 2 inputs to one output. A passive design allows for use in both directions but I have never done so. This pertains more to enclosure art and advertising. Im probably overthinking this. Lastly, LEDs. I personally have no need for them in an AB Box of any type. Its usually very apparent what channel(s) are activated. Any need for LED Indicators? If so you now need to power the device. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Im out of PCBs and I need to edit them before reordering so I figured Id poll the group to see if I need to add any components to cover all the options. Thanks guys and gals. Aaron COPPERHOUSE Audio
