Genesis 1:3-5 Tonight in the Bible discussion portion of the prayer call we continued the series “Back to the beginning!” understanding that we are living in the last of the last days. And in order to understand what in the world is going on in this the end we need to know what happened in the beginning! We pick it up from where we left off from last week at Genesis 1:3-5 “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” As we discovered and discussed on last week That God reveals Himself to us as the creator. “In the beginning God!” but where else would God be but in the beginning, in fact it is only through the Spirit that we see God before the beginning. because the beginning needed God to already be there to begin it! When I hear this word, “In the beginning God created the heaven and earth.” I visualize a perfect work. But when we look at verse 2 we see the earth in a chaotic condition caused by the sin of Lucifer the creature who rebelled against and the creator. This anointed cherub was assigned to lead all of creation into worship and praise to God but he wanted the worship foe himself. So God judged the world that then was by a flood that total destroyed everything. Lucifer is the Latin translation of his Hebrew name Helel which means bearer of the light. He was not the light! God is the Light, in fact Jesus said, “I Am the Light!” Because of pride Lucifer left the light and as a result of him leaving the light darkness came. I am so glad that our God decided that He was not going to leave the earth in this chaotic condition so He begins to move upon the face of the waters. The same way He has a plan and a purpose for you and for me. And no matter how bad your situation may be God has determined not to leave you like He found you! He is yet moving, He is a moving God, He is moving through your darkness, moving in my direction, moving upon the face of your waters, your troubles, my problems. Then God begins to speak! And He is yet speaking, we have a speaking God! And if we can just still ourselves to hear His voice He is ready, willing and able to speak to the darkness. But the good news is that God has given us the authority and power to open up our own mouths and say something. But we have to start talking right! We don’t need to speak about the darkness but speak to the darkness. Too often people perpetuate the problem by talking negative. Death and life is in the power of the tongue. If you don’t want it… don’t say it! God did not say like we would have said, “Sure is dark! What we gone do about all this water? God never mentions the darkness God didn’t say what He saw, He saw what He said! And God said, God said something about it. He wasnt like some folks who just talk about it and not be about it. He did something, then He said something that would rectify the situation. God said occurs ten times in the introduction, this statement begins each day. That’s what we should do because we are created in our God’s image let us be like God and say something but be sure to speak life. Let there be light: and there was light. Understand that God is not creating the light He is the Light! Think of it as God saying, “Let me get in this!” There was a time when I didn’t want God in my business, not realizing I didn’t even have no business. But now I am asking God to come on get all up in this here, my situations and circumstances, I need You Lord! In essence this is a job for God! I can’t do nothing about all this water, all this darkness but if I turn to the light everything will be alright! And God saw the light, that it was good: God looked at what He said and He saw that what He said was good. You and I ought to be saying something good the work of our words should be good, and God divided the light from the darkness. What I find most interesting is that seeing that God divided the light from the darkness I have to conclude that the light and the darkness had to have been together… we can’t even imagine the light and darkness ever being together because God separated them and they have been separated every since. Which is why you and I must make a difference between light and darkness, good and evil letting our yea be yea and our nay be nay. And lastly I want to point out that after God divided them He then named them. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And many people think when that Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning…” as the beginning of time but Genesis 1:1 is not the beginning of time but the beginning of creation. God exist in eternity He is not confined to the limits of time but we are. And the evening and the morning were the first day. This is where and when time began, evening and morning, night and day, the tick tock of the clock, when the pendulum began to swing. I want to encourage you to know what time it is because we have a work to do and Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
