Genesis 18The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.21So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribsg and then closed up the place with flesh. 22Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man. Folks. This scripture is loaded with information “wat skrik vir niks” i handpicked 3 verses. Once again this is my view as i see it. • I have read some comments which state that when GOD made man it was a mistake. He made man male and female and then had to undo his creation. It is based on vs 18 “It is not good for the man to be alone”. I have a tremendous amount of difficulty trying to come to terms with such reasoning. To me the emphasis of “not good” is founded on the aspect of being alone and not in the created man. An important fact to note is that God said........God verbalises his feelings or thoughts. • He then immediately says that He will make a helper suitable for him. God does not make the loneliness disappear nor does he introduce a companion, he brings along a helper out of what He already had created. Nothing new. I therefore assume that when one has someone working alongside you the loneliness disappears or that was the intention. Loneliness could be termed, “to be pulling along a load all by oneself”. So this need not be male or female as a helper. • VS 21 God takes man into the operating theatre. He takes the vital stats and God the aneathetist arrives. He puts man into a deep sleep. This is now no longer a matter of clay pottery as in the creation of man. There is no breathing life into this “additional extracted form”. It all was done and completed and all was and is good. Fullstop. Get my point? This is the first transplant operation in place. This also indicates that God plays according to the rules. You see he said that it was good. How can He now go back on His Word and take chance on creating a female. This would have been chaotic. Was the original not good enough? Just imagine man being male and female and then another version of only female. Can you imagine the problems we may have sat with now in 2104? Yor my bru. • God took one of mans ribs. I do not know how many ribs man has but God only needed one. Makes on think ne. Let’s get back to facts. It must have been a painful process. If it was not the why would God put man into deep sleep. He could have done it under local. I can only think that we are so complicated that even God needs time to check on the manuals. My point being that even though God can do what He wants to, He still operates under and is subject to the world conditions but does not let it dictate to him. Another fact is that He so easily could have omitted this from the Bible completely, no one would have been the wiser, but somewhere along the line the hiccup would have popped up. In conclusion i think that we, male and female live in two separate worlds. In fact the original you and I operate away from each other. My male part and your MY female part is divorced from each other. I suppose we can all speculate how to find ones other perfect piece of the puzzle. The problem is that there is only one other part. We are all influenced by various other matters. All trying to get rid of loneliness when we should be looking for a helper or whom we can help. I think that this should be our focus when choosing a partner. Help or be helped. Leave the dominance and control out of relationships. Man has more than enough work to do and women have more than enough to assist with. I need not go into what the present status is on this matter. Just look around you. By assisting does not mean that you do not have your own area of expertise to see to. I may be a painter and you a carpenter. We both play a role in completing the house. The Male however takes the responsibility to complete the project because the Female takes off time to increase the family. Ok cool so i am unequally yoked with who know who? How do i undo it? There is no easy solution and way out. Help the person alongside you. Stop sitting on your butt and waiting for “million dollar man” miracle to pitch. You out of choice picked the wrong lid. And what about males? Allow yourself to be helped. Stop thinking that life revolves around you. You are incomplete. You are a cripple. You have one rib short boetie. Get over it. TBWAA SPRING 2014
