Genesis 46:5-7, NKJV Then Jacob arose from Beersheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their little ones, and their wives, in the carts which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. So they took their livestock and their goods, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to Egypt, Jacob and all his descendants with him. His sons and his sons sons, his daughters and his sons daughters, and all his descendants he brought with him to Egypt. Tuesdays with Jacob As a leader, you take a lot of people with you wherever you go. Here, in the amazing story of Jacobs reunion with Joseph, the patriarch wont be alone on the journey. Every member of his family, every household servant, every animal caretaker will join the journey and experience life in a new place. Just as Jacob is experiencing a new day in his own life, he is also launching his family into a whole new world. Thats what leadership really is. We are taking a journey and those who follow us will…well, follow us. So the question becomes, Are we taking them somewhere meaningful? Thats a question that strikes at our choices. Do we live each day in a way we would want others to follow? Think about those you influence most. Is your life journey showing them a good path for their own lives? Are your choices bringing good to your life and would they bring good to others if they choice to emulate them? A leader never lives life alone. He is always aware that he sets the pace for others.
