Genesis 8 continues the story of the flood...actually everything - TopicsExpress

Genesis 8 continues the story of the flood...actually everything that happened after it stopped raining. As you might imagine it took months for the water on the earth to recede and dry up to the way it once was. When it was finally time to leave the ark, Noah opens the door and Im sure the animals poured out, eager to finally be free once again. Noah makes a sacrifice to God and God promises to never destroy all living creatures again. Everything seems to be grand. The problems of Genesis chapter 6 where evil was running rampant on earth have been solved!... They have been solved, havent they? Genesis 8:21 would argue differently. Even though a great flood came and wiped out probably 99.99% of evil in the world, it still seems that mankinds heart is evil from childhood. Perhaps the flood didnt eradicate sin. But this makes sense, because it was never supposed to... God was not surprised that sin still remained. In fact, this event shows humans the depth to which sin has infiltrated creation. This event shows us that it will take something larger than a worldwide flood to solve the sin problem. Whats larger than a worldwide flood? How about God himself becoming a human and coming to earth? (But were getting ahead of ourselves. Still lots to cover in the next couple months) -Pastor Aaron (Tomorrows reading: Genesis 15)
