Genesis Chapter 40 Some Highlights of this Chapter: 40 8 The interpretation of dreams is of God. 12, 19 Joseph explains the dreams of the two prisoners. 23 The ingratitude of the butler. .......................................................................................................... 1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. 2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. (his officers, Or, eunuchs, the word signifieth them, that were in high estate, or them that were gelded. made a eunuch...) 3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. ( Now we have to know, this is God involved with this plan to deliver His...to free Joseph, but we also have to remember here everything is in Gods time, not ours...) 4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward. 5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison. (according to the interpretation of his dream, So each dream had its own interpretation and we will see this is of God...) 6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad. 7 And he asked Pharaohs officers that were with him in the ward of his lords house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day? 8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you. ( We see here that we must lean on God and His interpretations of dreams and His words..Cannot God raise up such as shall interpret such things?, Or Can God not use us to interpret for Him..He gives us the interpretation to be told...For through the Holy Spirit in us, God can do many things if we let Him use us as a vessel, as a tool for His Glory!! Just test all spirits to be sure they are of God please...) 9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me; 10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes: 11 And Pharaohs cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaohs cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaohs hand. 12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days: (He was assured by the spirit of God, , (WHO is the Spirit of God?) The Holy Spirit, that his interpretation was true.So the Holy Spirit is a Spirit of truth, and He will witness to us whether what we receive of God is actually God or not!! The Holy Spirit tells us what to believe witnesses and everything God does is witnessed by 3, or what He says is at least confirmed by Him saying it twice, as we have seen in this very first book of the Bible!! So far God confirmed His promise 3 times.. through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob...of the nations and the multitude of seed) 13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaohs cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler. 14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: 15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon. We can see here Joseph has been treated rotten for things he did not do.. accusations for things he never did, yet was paying a price for something he had no part of!! His brothers had no real reason to do to him what they did, other then jealousy and hate.. He never touched his masters wife, yet he was serving time for it!! God knows all of what is happening to His.. He will deliver us, but in His ways.. and His timing.. for all He does works out to good for His.. and even for the wicked sometimes, because God will use that person in the future possibly to bless or help who is His...) 16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head: (That is made of white twigs, or as some read, baskets full of holes.) 17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head. 18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days: (Now Joseph was being honest and showing that the ministers of God ought not to conceal that, which God reveals to them....So, if God is interpreting a dream for us to tell someone what their dream was about, then we must tell that person truth of how God interpreted it for us, whether it be good news or bad...) 19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee. Sounds like something out of a scary story... God only protects who is His mainly.. unless God needs an ungodly person to finnish out His plan..Yes, God is in control and so are we by the choices we make, we either make the right and good choice or the wrong and bad!! Free will gives us the freedom to choose always and throughout our lives!!) 20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaohs birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. ( So, it was an occasion to appoint his officers and to examine those who were in prison, perhaps to pardon them??) 21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaohs hand: (Just like the dream was interpreted by God through Joseph...) 22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them. 23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him. So after what Joseph did for these two men, neither said or brought up Josephs name to the master!! Wow, talk about thinking only of one self?? This is a prime example of the two un godly men!! This will happen to all of us..We may do good for anther but it is soon forgotten by them,, But God knows and never forgets.. God will get Joseph out of prison, make no mistake about that brothers and sister, for who is stronger than Our Living, Loving Almighty God?? Not One in the whole universe.. Did Joseph fear God? Yes, but more respect than fear.. Did Joseph love God? Well we know he did.. but love casteth out fear, that is why our fear is more of a respect to Him and knowing Him and His power!! Do we really know our Father God in Heaven?? DO WE??? To really get to know Him is to read these letters He gave to us.. God tells us everything we should and need to know about Him.. He even tells us how we are to love Him, with all that we are!! That is the first 4 commandments.. the last 6 He tells us how we ought to love and treat one another..., for this fulfills the will of God!!! ...................................................................................................................... I only go by what the Lord is telling me in His words in the Bible , He has given me the gift of breaking it down into more basic terms, so all can understand for He wants all of us to know and understand and love Him......:) How can we, if we do not understand what He is telling us? Jesus/Yeshua is Lord!! Father God, I thank you for guiding, leading me through these chapters. I thank you for the Holy Spirit working in and through me., Thank you Father..
