Genesis of ISIS is traceable to Holy Quran. But if you want simply to know about the organization, it stands for Islamic State for Iraq and Syria. As you know from the recent developments, the USA after the 9/11 incident in WTO Centre at Manhattan targeted Sadam and Iraq, and subsequently Syria and Lybia. The fundamentalist Muslims whole over the world, thus are united to fight against the West led by the USA.
