Genesis reading notes for the past few days - through today. Oh, its getting good people! 13 – The way the promise is kept seems to show all the ways God can work in our lives. At the end of 12 God intervenes for Sarah after Abraham makes a horrible decision. Here, Abraham ends up with the Promised Land because he defers to Lot first. 14 – Abraham rescues Lot, and we get the strange appearance of Melchizedek. This high priest becomes an enormous point in the New Testament book of Hebrews, and should be read at some point when you’re done with Genesis. 15 – The Promise hasn’t yet been fulfilled, and we can forgive Abraham for his questions and doubts. How often do we doubt a promise when it isn’t quickly fulfilled. But God gives great assurance that it can and will come true for Abraham, and Sarah, and for the whole world.
