Genetic studies currently being conducted show that all of us are descended from a tiny population living in East Africa (present Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia). Those brown-skinned East Africans are the ancestors of all of us alive today. We Europeans may have some Neanderthal genes showing some inbreeding about 50,000 to 30,000 years ago. However, even Neanderthals came from a population of Homo erectus that left Africa a million years ago. H. erectus -> H. Heidelbergensis -> H. neandertalis and H. sapiens (the sapiens evolved in Africa later and some left 100,000 years ago in waves of migration through Asia and Europe. In summary, all living humans today are descended from dark skinned humans from Africa. We are all related (i.e. cousins.)
