Gentle Answer... A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. - Prov 15:1 We all know that nice/soft response turns away the wrath of somebody you offended, but a harsh word stirs up his anger which will mean trouble for you; for a gentle tongue breaks a bone any time anywhere (Prov 25:15). But I want to take this wisdom of King Solomon to related to what Christ Jesus has done for us to God. The Bible said that God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day...The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings...We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one (Psa 5:19. Jer 17:9-10. 1Jn 5:19 NKJV). > So we can see that the whole human race through the sin of Adam has become wicked in the sight of God; The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. (Genesis 6:5-6 NLT) • Yes, human became wicked after they fall short of Gods glory through disobedience, but God never abandon mankind, and through His servants the prophets He has been calling mankind saying, Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. (Isaiah 55:7 NLT) > All the effort of God to reconcile man back to Himself fell to deaf ears, our sins cut us off from God. Because of our sins, God turned away and will not listen anymore (Isa 59:2). God was angry with us and passed judgment against us, So He swore in His wrath saying, they shall not enter My rest.’” (Psa 95:11); God was so wrath against us to the extend that we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away (Isaiah 64:6 NKJV). > Then Jesus came and gave to God a gentle answer that turned away Gods wrath against us; Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ” (Hebrews 10:5-7 NKJV) • Gods wrath against us was turned away when Jesus said to Him Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God. Yes, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of God for us to receive Gods promises by faith - 2Cor 1:20. Gal 3:13-14. No wonder God said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matt 17:5) > So after Jesus fulfilled the requirements of God for us, God confirmed it that He is pleased in Jesus, then Jesus said to us; IT IS FINISHED! • Gods wrath against us because of Adams and our sins is finished in Jesus Christ, and through Him we shall be free from wrath to come; Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God...For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly...Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. (Romans 5:1-2, 6, 9-10 NKJV) • Despite our weaknesses and fault, God is pleased with us through His Son Jesus Christ. He looked at sinful people like us and called us His children; Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! (1Jn 3:1) > Whatever we are in Christ is bestowed on us on the platform of grace through faith; For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus...giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. (Gal 3:26. Col 1:12-14 NKJV) • A gentle answer of our Lord Jesus turned away Gods wrath from us; no wonder He says, Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29 NKJV) > And our words are no longer harsh word that stirs up Gods anger; For by Jesus Christ we continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. And we do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased; Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. (Eph 4:29. Heb 13:15-16) Jesus is the Gentle Answer for the world today - Jn 1:29. + May the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Amen! (Col 3:16-17) God Bless You!
