Gentle morning here in the Smokys, a cloud cover from the - TopicsExpress

Gentle morning here in the Smokys, a cloud cover from the southwest has blanketed the region but temperatures are mild... spring continues to advance. Soon the rhododendrons will be in bloom and then the cherry, apple and other fruit trees and berry bushes will blossom. Our condo sets above a creek and the sound of rushing water provides a backdrop of white-noise, a nice mind cleansing element. Perched on the deck, I notice 4 eagles floating above the ridges, riding the thermals and surveying the region. Their day has begun with the surety of a lasting note of continuity... something at least as eternal as this reality will allow for. I contemplate all the imagery of this part of the country, vast canyons carved by water coursing through ancient mountains, the diversity of plants and animals... the ebb and flow of an earth seeking renewal. It occurs to me that were all seeking renewal, transformation and some sort of affirmation that we are, in fact, eternal beings. That the scant few years we experience in our ego defined ride along the shifting timeline doesnt end in oblivion. That somehow all this does have meaning. In a few hours well be on the road again, heading north back toward Chicago and the throbbing pace of one of the worlds great megatropolis environments. But, the memories of this runaway will sustain me and the family into spring and summer, a reminder of the purity of nature, the endless font of Spirit and the inner peace gained when one stops all the frantic survival strategies and simply allows oneself to BE.
