Gentlemen, Mr Selladurai left for Jaffna this evening. He was still not himself until the time of departure. He could not fathom the fact that a whole generation of Trinitians had lined up to meet and greet him. He was overwhelmed by the warmth of all who had gathered and the contribution made by his extended Trinity family. The function itself was well handled and the due stature given to the event by Kehel. Nithi (nithimurugesu) made an excellent oration and the Kandyan Dancers added the colour needed for the event. When it came to Mr Selladurais turn to address the gathering he started full of vigor and enthusiasm, elaborating on the spiritual side of life and at one point choked and could not gather his thoughts thereafter. Mano and Siva did try to resurrect him but to no avail. When it came to the contribution it was more than a shock for him that he had evoked enough passion for his students to contribute a sum in excess of a million and a half rupees. That would certainly assist him meet the challenges of facing his frugal life with more certainty. The vote of thanks was aptly delivered by the Principal. Siva had made all arrangements in Kandy, in order to make his stay very comfortable. Idli, dosai, wadai, and rice and curry was made to order to make him feel at home. The room was very comfortable in his boutique hotel. Local transport in Kandy too was provided by Siva. The shawl and several gifts too were provided by Siva. Tilakesh no longer the truant he was in College had the courage to get close to arms reach of Sella and handled the transport from and to Jaffna. Mano, Shafee and Pena presented a few souvenirs and from whose account it came I do not know. That was the successful end of an event of a different nature to that of the Bradby that makes Trinitians of all walks of life congregate. This was a cause emanating from the heart. Plenty of photographs were taken and would be uploaded by Sampath Jayaratne, Siva, Suren, Chango and so many others. The video too would be uploaded on youtube. A very big thank you to all of you who participated and to those who contributed.
