Gentlemen, Welcome to the first game of the season and congrats on having the chutzpah to play one-day cricket, with a team who have cemented their reputation as the spiritual heart of SMCC (MNOB pending). The game this week is against nice guys Applecross at our home ground McLean. Game kicks off at 12.15pm so please be at the ground by 11.45pm. Just quietly we have a pretty good team - the rough batting order is: Peter Hood - Nerd (possibly Julio 20 years ago) Mark Dickinson - Thug Colin Haughton - Nerd David Durack - Nerd Patrick Savina - Julio (rock star) John Mavromatis - Julio (big guns, tats & Yiros MC) Joseph Fitzgerald - Julio (tight shirts) Brendan Byrne - Julio (where his hat backwards) Alex Evangelisti - Unknown at this stage. Nerd for the time being James Higgins - Nerd Ryan W Lowther - Nerd (glasses) We are also on morning tea. I have classified our team according to the Australian cricket team bus/beach cricket rules with a little rationale for my decision. If you are a nerd, please bring something savoury (sticky buns etc). Julios please bring fruit. Thugs - please bring a dirty story from the previous night at the casino! In terms of inspiration this week, I think the footage speaks for itself.
