Gentrification is a hot topic in the Bay Area, and Im constantly dismayed at the simplistic rhetoric that many radicals use. Its not a local phenomenon, its global - and understanding the dynamics of gentrification in a global economic context is the only way to meaningfully address it. Its not a big step from the essentially race-separatist language many radicals use to outright anti-immigration positions - its where left-and-right come perilously full-circle.
