Gentrification: the means by which neoliberal elitists take over communities and destroy traditions and pastimes for the sake of unwanted and needless change -- change that is subjectively better for them but destructive to a population that has lived in a given area for a generation or more. No one is safe from gentrification, regardless of whether they rent an apartment or own their own home. The mere presence of high income housing attracts corporate parasites. The presence of corporate parasites causes rises in the local cost of food, gasoline, utilities and the overall cost of living. These neoliberal, anarcho-capitalist real estate developers strategized to get the oldest horse race track shut down on the west coast of the United States because of their utter disdain for horse racing, which they perpetually see as a form of animal abuse. They destroyed a part of a lot of peoples childhood. They convey the same animus toward horse-and-carriage across the nation. They destroyed a significant part of the bay areas tradition. They have offended me personally.
