Geocache adventures October 2014 - Miracles in progress... Did not find Another Hole Under a Tree during my morning work out hike. I went back today... Still did not find... But - I had a hunch that what I found the first time, when I slid down the slope after trying to find that elusive cache... was important. It was a bunch of seed from an unknown herb. Stuck all over my fleece jacket, gloves and scarf... I was pretty upset about that. It was 39 degrees out at 6:30am. I needed my gloves and my scarf. My fingers were stuck together by the seeds. While I grumbled about not finding the cache... and having no time for picking off all those darn seed pods... An idea came to me. My mind was filled with worry about my myriad of mystery illnesses that all seemed to crop up while living in the house where the Springville Family died recently. Those seed pods seemed to be important. As I picked them off my jacket, I felt increasingly aware that this was not by chance. I was meant to not find the cache container... to slip, and fall through these herbs. Not knowing what it was, I gathered up some of the plant and headed home. Today, after consulting my herb book, and the staff at Christophers Herb Shop on Main Street, Springville... I learned that what I had found was an Herb called horehound. It has healing properties that will cleanse / detox my lungs. The oils are a purifier. The leaves made into a pulp heal wounds... and when dried and made into a tea, cleanse the sinus, and the lungs. The owner knew the family in Springville and said they often came in seeking herbal remedies to heal their new, and ever increasing strange illnesses. She said they were the most wholesome, loving family and adored their children. She gave me a small gift and told me that the best herbs were the young ones, with the fullest leaves before the plant goes to seed. Being fall, this may not be an easy find. I went back up the mountain tonight with kitchen shears and little ties and a heart filled with hope. On the side of the road, near the Another hole under a tree- Geocache ---- where seeds have blown in the wind... and recent rain fall has formed large puddles... a new outcrop of horehound made a beautiful edging. I clipped as much as I could fit into my small grocery bag... Searched for that ever elusive geocache... ( didnt find it... -- again --- *sigh* ) But... on the way down.... I found a missing piece to my Kodachrome Muffler! Im so glad! ... My professor gave me a B on my line art pencil drawing of that piece... and told me to rework the composition for the pencil drawing. It lacks continuation and repetition ..It doesnt meet the criteria : perfect geometrical forms in a mechanical object ( because the muffler parts are very eroded and dented. ) To bring up my grade, I must add a piece that I can show that I know how to draw a perfect elipse or a circle, square, etc. in perspective... (without dents or erosion....) I was so discouraged. I thought I had picked up all the pieces of that old muffler... Until tonight. See my little tiny pipe? It has a perfect circle!!! This will fulfill all three criteria!!! Hooray for all the did not find geocaches and for the miracle of the things I found instead!
