George Jones - Whos Gonna Fill Their Shoes? Day #4 My GRATEFUL CHALLENGE. Music can bring back so many memories. This George Jones song came on the radio today. It makes me very grateful for the childhood I had. I spent a lot of my childhood in Letts IN. with my grandma the one and only Ota Wyrick and my favorite neighbors the Ralston family and the Hays and Ailes family. Im grateful for Letts park, Letts fire station, tractor pulls, fish frys, the fun wedding receptions held in the upstairs and staying out playing until dark. I remember swimming in Little Africa, taking small blowup boats down the river looking for pig people. Formulating a haunted house and inviting the town of Letts to go thru it with success. My grannys yard sales, Wandas fresh garden canned pickles, my grandmas classic calling out in her southern Kentucky voice MIA DAWN, come get you a big glass of milk! Walking myself to Letts Methodist Church on Sundays and Sunday school. I cant forget the little corner store and the pool table. So many thoughts came rushing back and I am thankful for having the best childhood a girl could ask for that seldom involved having money... Usually only bicycles, friends, bubblegum, balls, bats, playhouses, Parks and Recs and using your leadership skills and imagination. An old mattress for gymnastics.. I could go on and on but that would be more like a book. Mia:-)
