George Osbornes beer and bingo budget will hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. I dont want to rain on the Chancellors parade but one word oft-repeated in his speech amazed me. He repeatedly said what we would do in the next Parliament. For example, we, he, said, are continuing with the cuts in the next Parliament. That might be wise or it might be unwise but who are these we? These we at present are the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats in coalition and Mr Osborne is Chancellor in the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition. When he speaks of we doing this or that in the next Parliament he should reflect on the virtual certainty that he, George Osborne, will not be Chancellor in another Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition for the likelihood is that the Liberal Democrats will be wiped out at the election. He should also reflect on the likelihood of UKIP and others seriously damaging the Conservatives. If reflected upon realistically, Mr Osbornes chances of being Chancellor after the election are next to nil. No more we, please, George: youre on your way out.
