Georgia Weather History for April 10th In 2009, a strong upper level disturbance moved across the Ohio Valley, sweeping a cold front through Georgia late in the evening. The strong winds at the surface and aloft combined with the unstable airmass to produce an outbreak of supercell thunderstorms from the afternoon into the early morning hours of the next day. Fourteen tornadoes occurred across north and central Georgia during this event. Hancock County had the most number of tornadoes this day with three touching down in the county - two EF-0 and one EF-3. A two-story site built home was completely destroyed with debris strewn across a 400 ft. path. In addition, one mobile home was leveled and minor damage was sustained by two other homes.
