Gerakan wants Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to reconsider the decision to replace the current Selangor Menteri Besar with PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Gerakan youth chief Tan Keng Liang said there must be other leaders in the three-party Pakatan Rakyat alliance who are more qualified than Anwars wife, Dr Wan Azizah. It is without doubt that the Selangor government is in a crisis as a result of PKR insistence to replace the current Menteri Besar with Wan Azizah, he said in a statement today. He said as the de facto leader of Pakatan, Anwar should consider the interest of the people in Selangor and the impact of the ongoing Selangor MB crisis on the state. We hope the crisis in Selangor can be resolved by Pakatan in the interest of the people without any further delay, he added. Embattled MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is now an Independent candidate after being expelled from PKR last week for defying the party’s orders to step down as MB and make way for Dr Wan Azizah to replace him. His expulsion came weeks after the MB crisis threatened to split Pakatan between PAS, which supports Khalid, and PKR and DAP, which want him removed. Following a two-hour meeting by Selangors Royal Advisory Council at the Istana Alam Shah two days ago, the sultan consented to Khalid to continue as MB. The Port Klang assemblyman said he had informed the sultan that he still commanded the majority of the support of the assemblymen, despite his sacking from PKR on August 9.
