Gerald Rices e-book, WHERE THE MONSTERS ARE is an incredible story - TopicsExpress

Gerald Rices e-book, WHERE THE MONSTERS ARE is an incredible story on so many levels. In fact, I found it necessary to read this story twice because as I read it the first time, it left me with the feeling that I was not getting the entire story. The first time I read it, Mr. Rices e-book engaged me in a story about a protagonist, Gerald Parsons, who is an up and coming executive who enters into a nightmare world where people whom he doesnt know approach him and insist they know him, where another employee who is in line for the same promotion as Gerald and whose life is destroyed in a very creative way that may have been because of Geralds actions. In addition, the companys HR person is killed before his eyes and then the people who had approached him show up, in multitudes causing him to fear for the safety of his family. Alone, this story is beautifully written and engaging but certain things made me feel that this was not all Mr. Rice had intended. So I took another journey into the rabbit hole and looked at the clues Mr. Rice had so delicately hidden in the story. I am a student of psychology, having almost attained a doctorate in that field so little things like Gerald taking medication and having seen a psychiatrist strummed this thread that runs through my life. Questions like what was going on with this man that might be causing the delusional thoughts he was having, the strange thoughts, his unclear thinking, and problems with memory, focusing on homicide and lingering in a coma-like state? These are all symptoms of having a psychological disorder called schizoaffective disorder. That turn in the second reading made me have the A-HA moment and I fell in love with this story even more so than before. The detail is exceptional, the continuity was amazing and making this a psychological tale was a brilliant move. Mr. Rice is a remarkable author and the fact that I could read this story twice, exceptionally told on two levels, shows what a mind blowing author he is. I suggest you run over to your favorite e-book seller, grab a copy and make time for reading this book twice, maybe even more times because he has made this tale multilayered. Literally, I highly recommend that you buy this book and figuratively have your mind blown. Kudos Mr. Rice, kudos! Available on Kindle and Nook.
