Gerard Garilli & “Gerard Garilli Productions” It would be an understatement to say that, Gerard Garilli is a movie enthusiast. Film is his life. Dramas and comedies are usually genres that hit home with him. Out of an impressively large blu-ray collection, he was able to pick out “My Own Private Idaho”, “Taxi Driver”, “Billy Madison” & “BASEketball” as some of his top favorites. He credits “Good Will Hunting”and specifically Gus Van Sant, with being his continual inspiration. Going back to it every couple of years, offers a new message or aspect he might not have received during previous views. Films of quality such as “Good Will Hunting” & “American Beauty” reinforces the power of film for Gerard. Hes now on a mission to deliver the raw emotion and feelings he experienced from films hes watched his entire life. Already off to a great start, Gerard has been working hard to get his foot in the door. Attending just one year of acting school with Mark Stolzenberg, helped instill the courage he would need in order to be in film. Having an innate sense for movie terms & concepts, all he had to do was get his thoughts down on paper. Gerards first two movies ,“Hunt Place” & “August 18th”, served as teaching tools for himself, helping him get comfortable with the ins & outs of it all. In his wildest dreams he couldnt have imagined the turnout his next movie was destined to get, he just knew he had to get this story on film. “Fratello” is Gerards pride & joy. Made with a small budget, a crew of 6 and a small cast , he showed what he could do. The story is an original screenplay written and directed by Gerard himself. Initially called “On the Run”, he changed the title when actor Joe Gannascoli (from the Sopranos & Ed Wood) joined the cast because he had already been in a film under the same name. He named his work “Fratello” because of what it means.. “Brother”. To find out why, youll have to watch it for yourself. The premier of “Fratello” marks the birth of his career. Gerards film was introduced in a big way by being screened at the Golden Door International Film Festival of Jersey City which is run by the Sorvino Family. The possibilities for Gerard Garilli & “Gerard Garilli Productions” are endless, especially when he has the love and support of his family and friends. He already has a few projects in the works. Not wanting to give too much away, he has said one of his upcoming films will be based on Hurricane Sandy. Hes also working on ideas for a Tv pilot, as well as a feature film. Although his movies, thus far, and production company are based in New Jersey, his future ventures might take place elsewhere. No matter the project Gerard comes out with or where it might be located, you can bet it will be something to see. In the Artists Own Words: “Fratello came to me after I made my little short film August 18th. I started writing it that summer. I wanted to create a gritty, dramatic, dark & realistic story in the cold winter & set it in my home turf in North Jersey. It was a very fast process. I wrote the script, hired a small crew & we shot the movie in 13 days. The film has absolutely nothing to do with my life. ” - Gerard Garilli “I see myself making movies or being in movies that either move audiences in a dramatic or comedic way. I may aim for something more comedic for my next production, well see. All I know is Im very blessed & excited to be where Im at right now & looking forward to where my career will go next.” - Gerard Garilli To watch his first film “Hunt Place”, you can see it on Youtube: : youtu.be/-aXcD161_hE as well as his second film “August 18th”: youtu.be/t2AJLQ3_SS4 You can purchase “Fratello” on Amazon: amzn/B00I5ZFIU4 or on CreateSpace: https://createspace/384308 To read up more on “Fratello”, check out the Facebook page: https://facebook/Fratello2013
