Gerken repeats as Latta Scratch Player of Year, Abke takes Net Honors-Dauer takes scratch finale and T Graff aces his way to net victory, results posted---- Informal Monroe CC event scheduled for 9:00 AM October 4th Brian Gerken had another fine year in the Metro winning 4 times, including the Metro Championship and the Toledo Amateur. These wins, along with several other high finishes enabled Gerken to take home his second consecutive Metro Player of the Year award named after former Metro great Barry Latta. Gerken outdistanced Tom Yeager, who had 3 victories this year and who has won several player of the year awards. Terry Tyson, Jeff Abke and Brian Simmons rounded out the top five. The race for the net Player of the Year was down to the wire. Jeff Abke, who won the Jermain A flight, also finished high in both divisions practically every time he teed it up and his consistency enabled him to capture the net honors by a slim margin. Scott Conrad, a past winner of the net honors, finished second only 31 points behind, followed by Tom Leyman, Jim Kennedy and Tim Graff. Nick Dauer had 3 birdies and several pars, and was able to win the traditional end of the year Stableford tournament by 2 points over Brian Simmons. Jeff Kruzel and Mike Govito were tied for 3rd another point behind. Tim Graff, won the closest to the pin on the 7th hole and made the birdie putt, but on the par 3 16th, he took his game to another level as he ACED the hole. An ace counts for 10 points and allowed him to finish 5 shots ahead of Ron Herringhausen. Mike Govito was 3rd and Mark Brezvai was fourth. Results are now posted.
