German tabloid Bild has carried quotes from Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola which suggest he could leave the German champions at the end of next season. Former Manchester United managerial target, Guardiola has put himself under immense pressure heading into the new season suggesting that he’ll resign with a year left to run on his contract if he doesn’t secure any silverware. “If I don’t win a title next season, there will be another coach here,” the Spaniard is quoted as saying by Bild. Fortunately for Guardiola he’s at one of the strongest clubs in Europe and arguably the strongest club in Germany. Mario Mandzukic may have left but Robert Lewandowski has signed after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season. Guardiola’s aim for the coming season will more than likely be to right the wrong of the Champions League, which saw his side dispatched in emphatic fashion by Real Madrid over two legs. If Bayern don’t win any silverware and he does take that decision on himself to leave then he could command a move to any club he desires. The Manchester United links were strong when Sir Alex Ferguson retired but he committed to a move to Bayern and United will be happy with their acquisition of Louis van Gaal following a miserable year in charge for David Moyes. Guardiola is a winner and while his comments will strike some as arrogant, they’re admirable in a football world dominated by pressure and results.
