Get Ahead of the Train Every election we hold, thinking that this candidate or that one, will solve our social ills takes us further away from solving our social problems. Until we realize that the best solution will come from undoing rather than another type of do-er, or doing, we are doomed like the runaway train and its passengers changing from side to side (left wing, right wing) believing that which side they sit on will make a difference to the train’s destination. When in fact, the only difference is made by the person sitting up ahead by the track, next to the switch. Such a person is always unanticipated, a Rosa Parks, Ralph Nader, Martin Luther King, Jesus, or an Einstein, a Buckminster Fuller. Very seldom are they an elected official, bureaucrat or politician. Always a surprise.
