Sign Up This Saturday March 15 Johny Hendricks will be fighting for the Welterweight Championship belt. In November 2013 Hendricks took on Georges St. Pierre and after five rounds, Hendricks won everything but the belt.During the post-fight press conference Hendricks reiterated that sentiment “I am the champion” Hendrix told the media. “I out jab him, I out struck him and I out wrestled him, I did everything to win the fight” Hendrix said. But when the judges made the final decision and he lost via a spilt decision (48-47, 47-48, 48-47). The world erupted against the decision including the president of the UFC Dana White who said after the fight that Hendricks had won. While Hendricks did lose the fight a star was born and when Pierre announced that he was stepping back from MMA for a while. It was a no-brainer that Hendricks would once again fight for the belt Pierre had vacated. Robbie Lawler was inked to fight Hendricks for the belt and to headline UFC 171 in Dallas. Lawler may not be the most worthy fighter to take on Hendricks, but he has been on a roll since returning to the UFC after a stint at StrikeForce and dropping back down to Welterweight. Lawler finished both Josh Koscheck, and Bobby Voelker and was able to edge pass Rory MacDonald a fringe top five Welterweight. The fight this Saturday will no doubt be a standup war between two guys who know how to end fights with a combined 26 knockouts between the two fighters. Hendricks once again has one man to beat to win the championship belt, this time Hendricks will no doubt not leave it to the judges.
