Get em ready Cody. Matt, North American and European wrestlers been wrestling since high school, defense, defense, defense. Team, use your Muay Thai and boxing/striking skills to show em what you got and stun them, put fear into them. You will be underestimated at first because Malaysia is not a big MMA nation. Half these guys wont know where Malaysia is! Use that to your advantage at first but dont be complacent, they have things u wont know either. Youve been trained by the best at Tiger but be hungry to learn more. That will differentiate you. Watch your movement in the cage. Go for the flurry if you get their backs against the cage. Give yourselves defense room when opponents attack by circular backtracking. Dont let them catch you out and put you against the cage or theyll take you to ground and wrestle the whole round. (Remember also that I have absolutely ZERO experience in the cage so am basically talking out of my ass!) Also remember that above all, Win or lose, HAVE FUN! You dont have to prove anything to anyone other than you are fighters in the cage. You are Champions. We are all so proud of you guys already and know youre training your asses off and getting up at cray cray hours because Alex Wong is OCPC - Obsessive Compulsive Positive Chinese! But remember your coaches and support team are accountable for the entire team, so give them that respect as their job is to prepare and support you physically and mentally. Savor this moment in your lives. You will look back one day and see this as one of the pioneering moments for Malaysian MMA. We all stand on the shoulders of giants who were pioneers - from Bruce Lee, Gracie, Dana White, Liddell, Couture, Melvin Yeoh, Victor Cui and Chatri and OneFC, Adam Kayoom, Mayhem, MASMAA, MIMMA, Ultimate MMA, F3, UB, KBS, MFC, Muay Thai, BJJ, all the associations from Silat to Taekwondo, all Gyms, media, reporters and MMA websites and snake wranglers like James Goyder etc and all the rest have in some big or small way, played a part in you being there today, but none more so than yourselves!
