Get familiar with each position. That is, a basic position, not a every possible variation of side control for example. Learn how to transition to this position and from where you can do it. Look at top position first. Find out and understand what is it that makes each position work, how do you keep it? Then choose and develop two submissions from that position. So you can nail them regulary when rolling. Its ok to know more, but nail two for now. Now look at bottom game. Understand how to disrupt the guy holding this position. Deconstruct what you need to keep it! Learn two sweeps or escapes from here as well, drill them until you can nail them regularly while rolling. Are there submissions available from under this position, you know what i am gonna say, nail two of them. Learn how to transition to other positions from both top and bottom game. This will give you a very broad base to start from. Become happy to work from all positions. While you build this up, you will automatically learn so much more, many things you never even thought of. But you need a plan, a direction for your development, then you will begin to see results more quickly. Write your plan down! It will make much more sense. Get to work !!!!
