Get hired and negotiate your pay no more. The government wants to decide if your pay is fair and wants to put a federal regulation that will bump up the pay of others at your workplace who earn less. This is yet another cost that buisinesses are expected to absorb and it does not reward excelence in the workplace. In governments effort to ensure that no one is treated unfairly they also mandate that no one is special. If hard work and talant is not rewarded, people tend to work less. How is that a benefit anyone?
