Get lost! That shocking message does not come to you personally - TopicsExpress

Get lost! That shocking message does not come to you personally from a telephone call or a message flashed on the television screen. That startling revelation reverberates from the pages of the New Testament! The Savior succinctly said, Verily, verily, I say unto you. Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal (John 12:24-26). Jesus reversed for men the order of priorities. For millennia man has looked out for number one. Thrones, crowds, applause, fame, salutations and self had been man’s point of reference. NOW – suddenly, dramatically, the light of eternal truth flashes on in the conscience of Jesus’ hearers when he declares: Life comes from death; get lost; try giving yourself away; get off your hands, go to your death – and you shall live. How differently we advise! We, too often, teach our children a passive stance in life. We often say to them, Don’t get near the water until you learn to swim; Stay off your bike because of the danger; Stay out of airplanes – they might fall. In essence, we are saying, Narrow down your interests, withhold your affection, dodge responsibility; protect yourself against hurt; hug the safe shores; don’t believe too much, don’t love too deeply – you might get hurt. That, my friend, smacks more of Hinduism than it does of Christianity! He that loseth his life for my sake shall find it (Matthew 10:39). Jesus advises us to remain in the mainstream of life – to take risks. Many outlive, in a short time, the fellow who lives to be 100, who mopes and dozes and never gets his feet wet – whose highest achievement is to have the lowest cholesterol on the block. Jesus advises us to replace our cholesterol with adrenaline! To move from a passive existence to an active role is life’s sweetest choice. So tear fear out of your heart; bury your negative thinking and move creatively to work, bleed, give, sacrifice, die (Revelation 2:10) Selected Back - Home øøøøø= =2=9=ÿÿ
