Get ready to read :-) Came across a magazine article where the testers weighed the. FIESTA ST. and listed the weight put on each tire, and the weight distribution % on the front-back and left-right. Made me think about the suspension set up, so I had to look it up. Factory spring rates up front are 171 lbs/in (30n/mm) and the factory rear are 143 lbs/in (25n/mm) It seems like the biggest complaint with the suspension is that the rebound is a little too high for the rest of the factory set up. Causing a bob during hard cornering. Now struts are like voodoo to me. It seems to be the hardest part about tuning a suspension to me. All I can really understand out of it is valve rates, which I also looked up on the car and the values are 5k up front and 3k in the rear. (Rear looks a tad on the weak side being that front weight is 1654lbs and rear is 1003lbs) So I was thinking, for a good auto x layout that could still be street tolerable, if you were to lower the vehicle an 1 to an 1 1/2 , increased spring rate to (340-350lbs/in Front) and (260-270lbs/in Rear) and had valving @ 6k front 4k rear (bringing rates slightly closer together without changing handling tendencies) with the addition of light strut bar up front and some 215-225 rubbers. Would this not keep the car planted nicely and get rid of a fair amount of body roll. I am going to look at the focus now that my wheels started turning. Let me know what you think and if anyone is running anything similar to this. Thanks for taking the time to read my ADHD jabber :-)
