Get to know Jeremy John Perez, vocalist and member of the RNCM Session Orchestra... My name is Jeremy Perez and I come from the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, home to 30,000 Gibraltarians. Music has always played a huge role in my life as I have been playing drums since the age of 2 and singing since I was 8 years old. I play drums and sing with two local bands from Gibraltar known as The Trio and Side Project, as well as playing with This Side UP from (2010 – 2013) in which we played at National Day Rock Concerts, New Years Eve and the Miss Gibraltar Pageant in 2013. I also won ‘Most Vibrant Vocalist (2010) and Most Promising Vocalist Under 18 (2011) at the Festival of Young Musicians, Gibraltar. I form part of the Santos Productions Choir in which we recently won Gold in the Gospel and Popular Music categories at the European Choir Games. We are now getting ready for the World Choir Games held in July of 2014 in Latvia which should be a tremendous experience, one in which I very much look forward too. I am Currently Studying Popular Music Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music. This institution has given me the opportunity to further enhance my skills as a musician and has been crucial in helping me understand what the music industry in UK has to offer. I am gigging in the Manchester music circuit, playing with bands such as Nebi Nights, Virtual Insanity and Tom and Jerry, a Piano and vocal duo. I also form part of the RNCM Gospel Choir, which recently performed with the band ‘Soul Caribbean’, directed by Kevin Robinson. Recording at Blue Print Studios as well as SSR has also been a tremendous experience. My biggest achievement yet has to be getting into the RNCM Session Orchestra. Performing with an Orchestra is a dream come true and is something I have always wanted to do from a very young age. I would like to thank my family, mentors Christian Santos, Christopher Cortes. A mention also to Gina Lopez, Christina Bruzon, Jenson Jay and Gibraltar’s very own local band ‘Afterhours’ for their support over the years.
