Get to know our staff in 10 questions - 60 seconds with Nurse Donna Q- How long have you been in the vet industry for? Since I was 18 years old. I finished high school & did a year of Laboratory Technology at Frankston Tafe in Victoria. There was a job vacancy at Hampton Vet hospital in the local paper & I knew straight away that that was what I wanted to do. I have been nursing ever since Q- What do you do in your spare time? I have 2 beautiful girls whom are 6 & 9 so I rarely find any spare time for me. Out of work & during the week my time is spent helping out at my girls school. I love heading out to the gym at least 3 times a week. My weekends involve spending time with the family. We love camping, 4wd, bike riding, bush walking, going to the park & BBQs at friends houses Q- Where is your favourite holiday destination? I recently went on a cruise with friends & family to the Pacific Islands. At a drop of a hat I would be straight back on that boat again. It was the best holiday anyone could ever imagine. No cooking what so ever for the entire holiday. What more could a mum want Q- What is one of your hobbies? I love tinkering in the garden. I have a little vege/herb garden in the corner of our back yard that produces the best things all year round Q- What is your favourite colour? I have two. Lemon & lime green. They are both bright colours that go well together Q. Do you have pets? Yes. I have a beautiful ginger male cat whom we acquired from Pets without Partners 4 years ago. His name is Max & he has a very bright & dominant personality. He likes to attack the fox terrier next door, the two Maltese dogs across the road & the Staffy on the other side of us. When we go for a scooter around the block he tends to follow us all the way Q- Do you have any special areas of interest in the veterinary industry? I find the laboratory side of the veterinary industry very interesting. I love looking at things under the microscope, preparing the slides for the vets & the in-house blood machine that we have Q- Whats your weakness? Chocolate slices, muffins and cake. I LOVE baked cheesecake. When our lovely clients bring these in to us, you will find me walking past the tea room A LOT Q- Career highlights? Knowing that the job that I am in is the one that I want to be in for the rest of my working career. I have always loved animals since I can remember & I can honestly say that I love coming to work each day Q- What would most people be shocked to know about you? That on Easter Saturday this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Surgery, chemotherapy & radiation has unfortunately resulted in me having to take time off work until hopefully December
